I don’t care who you are, life is exhausting at times, if not all of the time. We all go through cycles that leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, and weighed down. It is because of this that it seems the world at large is currently on a lifelong mission to find peace. There are many methods out there claiming to ensure a peaceful mindset; however, many of these methods only provide temporary relief.
These three simple strategies are the only tried and true methods that I have found that actually work. Give them a wholehearted try, be consistent in them, and see your life changed.
1. Grow a Peaceful Mindset by Seeking God Daily
Start your morning by spending time in God’s word and talking to Him. This doesn’t need to require a ton of your time. Not everybody has hours to spend in a deep dive study. But grounding yourself in the truth of God’s word, even on a smaller scale, will start you on the road to knowing Him more intimately, which will in turn build a foundation of trust that you will be able to rest in.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

Talking to Him, laying all of your burdens at His feet, and trusting Him to carry them better than you could, takes all of the pressure off of your shoulders. Spending time with Him daily will bring this kind of inner peace.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
2. Develop Inner Peace by Obeying God’s Instruction
God has from the beginning of time, set rules in place for His people to follow. Just as a parent sets guidelines and rules to keep their kiddos safe, so our God does for His people. These are set out of love for our safety and protection against all the world has to throw at us.
Sin is destructive, whether it is yours or someone else’s. Nothing good can come of it beyond a momentary blip of gratification. I have heard it said that one might enjoy the taste of a large, high calorie meal, but not the extra weight and sluggish energy that are left in it’s wake.
Disobedience brings the type of drama that winds itself into a knot that can seem impossible to untangle. This level of intensity is exhausting and will begin to chip away at that peaceful mindset you’ve worked so hard to build.
But God’s way is better. If we seek His counsel, and follow His direction, life may not be perfect (we do still live in a sinful world after all) but it will be less dramatic. His path is always grounded in His truth and stability. And that is where we find peace.
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. John 15:9-11
3. Find Peace in the Small Things
There are so many moments of peace to be found throughout your day. You just need to open your eyes to seeing them. God’s creation is perfect, and sometimes the greatest points of perfection are in the small things we encounter every day.
He is in the ray of afternoon sunshine laying across my kitchen table while the breeze plays softly through the open window. He is in my son’s smile, and in the way my daughter’s nose wrinkles up when she thinks something is really funny. God is everywhere, and in all things, and it is through these moments that we can take breath and experience His peace.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17
The Only Path to Peace
There truly is only one way to that peaceful mindset you are desperately searching for. I urge you, dear friend, to open God’s word, obey what it says, and begin seeing Him all around you. In this, you will find a deeper peace than you could ever imagine.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
